International Transfer proving popular with agents
Rail’s innovative global booking system International Transfer has been a great success with travel agents generating more than 800 registrations and 5,000 bookings since the scheme launched six months ago.
The program, which is a simple and reliable one-stop shop allowing trade partners to book transfers all over the world in just 60 seconds, was introduced in response to requests from agents seeking a simple solution to a common problem.
The new website is extremely user-friendly, with agents simply entering customers’ pick-up and drop-off locations, the time they wish to travel, and the number of people included in the booking and they are offered a selection of reliable transfer alternatives, all quoted in Australian dollars.
International Transfer offers services from Italian railway station transfers to water taxis in Venice and bus seats from Southampton cruise terminal (UK) to deluxe private vehicles from Melbourne airport and everything in between. Agents are particularly pleased that the system can handle transfers to/from private addresses.
Pacing for another huge year, B&R steps forward with its newest and best walking trips
Butterfield & Robinson, the world’s premier active travel company is celebrating major growth in luxury walking trips by highlighting its newest and most popular trips. Since 2010, B&R has seen a 153 per cent increase in bookings on walking trips, with an average yearly increase of 13 per cent in bookings in the same time period.
In 2018 B&R has seen an increase of over nine per cent in travellers booking walking trips, and its walking portfolio has grown from 28 trips to 112 published and private trips in the last eight years.
In 2019, B&R will officially quadruple the number of walking trips offered in 2010, with six of its newest trips departing in the UK, Italy, Romania and New Zealand – the latter departing as early as January. The two new Italian itineraries, Puglia to Matera Walking and Sardinia Walking, represent the fastest-growing country for B&R, while Puglia specifically is the company’s most popular destination.

Eurail increases focus on Australian Market with the appointment of first ever representative
Eurail, the flexible rail pass that simplifies rail travel throughout 28 European countries, has announced Example will manage its trade relationships, marketing and public relations activity in the Australian market. This is the first time the popular travel brand has sought Australian representation and is a direct result of Australia recently becoming Eurail’s second largest source market.
Example, a Sydney-based travel and hospitality specialist agency, will work closely with Eurail’s GSA partners (Rail Europe and STA Travel) to increase brand awareness and product knowledge with travel agents, while also working with the broader travel industry to increase consumer interest surrounding European travel, and enhance the appeal of the convenient, fun and easy-to-use Eurail Pass.
The sales and marketing face for Eurail in Australia will be working with Rail Europe and STA Travel in the coming months to launch a number of new initiatives and exciting product developments. Airlines and European tourism boards, as well as media and content creators, will shortly be invited to collaborate on joint initiatives, all designed to increase the appeal of Europe, and encourage Australians to explore the diversity of its many countries, cities and landscapes by rail.
