Tailor-made Asia Travel Hits Record Levels

Tailor-made Asia travel is more popular than ever with Australian travellers, claimsChimu Adventures’ sister company GetAboutAsia, who have seen record growth for their tailor-made tours with sales having almost tripled since the company was born four years ago.

The company believes that shifting consumer trends, such as a rising interest in sustainability and niche experiences, are the main factors contributing to this trend.

Whilst the Asia specialist operator has seen solid growth of interest in all tours and excursions, demand for special interest activities, such as rail journeys, river cruises and rural tours, has been particularly strong.

With personalisation and authenticity at the core of its philosophy, GetAboutAsia’s trip styles cater for a diverse range of travellers and their desires, from 3-star Standard style trips to 4-star Superior and 5-star Deluxe voyages.

Whether it’s taking in the iconic sights of Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China, cruising down the calm waters of Halong Bay or taking Asia’s road less travelled to the Silk Road, hiking the Himalaya or visiting monasteries and spiritual temples in Bhutan, the options to explore with GetAboutAsia are endless – be it by land, train or cruise, staying in beach resorts, jungle huts or eco lodges.

Australian first … Five iconic Tassie adventures in one

Specialist walking operator, Tasmanian Expeditions, has launched a wilderness experience like no other – a five-week traverse of Tasmania combining the state’s five most iconic adventures in one.

The “Great Tasmanian Traverse” is the first of its kind in Australia, offering travellers the opportunity to traverse the entire length of the Apple Isle, from top to bottom, over 39 days.

The Great Tasmanian Traverse combines five of the operator’s most popular adventures; Penguin to Cradle, The Overland Track, Frenchmans Cap Trek, Franklin River Rafting and the South Coast Track.

The traverse will cover some of the most remote and beautiful wilderness regions in the world and, according to Tasmanian Expeditions Manager Field Manager, Scott O’Leary, is the company’s most ambitious wilderness adventure ever.

The inaugural fully-guided traverse will start in Northern Tasmania at the beginning of the Coast to Cradle Trail and finish at Cockle Creek, Australia’s southern most town.

The Great Tasmanian Traverse will cost $12,890 per person which includes all accommodation (including pre & post trip hotel nights), camping and rafting equipment,  transfers, all meals (including a celebratory dinner in Hobart), food drops (where applicable), and professional guides.
