Hefty turbulence on a Bonza flight from Rockhampton to the Sunshine Coast has left some of the airline’s crew members injured and have since been taken to hospital.
The budget airline’s CEO, Tim Jordan, confirmed the incident in a statement provided to Travel Weekly.
“Last night, a flight from Rockhampton to the Sunshine Coast experienced unexpected and severe turbulence leading some Bonza crew members needing to be assessed at Sunshine Coast University Hospital,” Jordan said.
“All crew were cleared to return home last night and no customers have presented with injuries.
“Our priority is always the safety of our staff and customers and we will be supporting our in flight legends as they need.”

The aircraft landed safely in the Sunshine Coast.
It remains unclear how many staff members were injured as a result of the turbulence, the extent of the injuries or how many ended up in hospital.
Bonza launched at the beginning of this year with a motive to service unserved routes across Australia.
It initially launched with bases at the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne and has recently began flying from the Gold Coast.
