Carnival Cruise Line is supporting the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Patient Family Accommodation Program through the cruise line’s Conga for Kids deck parties.
The program offers families free access to apartments at the new Scape Lachlan Building in Kensington, near the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.
Donations raised during Conga for Kids deck parties onboard every Carnival cruise from Sydney have funded a one-bedroom apartment for families needing accommodation near the hospital. The apartment includes access to workspaces, outdoor areas, a pool, laundry facilities and a 24/7 concierge.
“We host the Conga for Kids party on every voyage in Australia,” Carnival’s assistant vice president of guest operations Caroline Bourke said. ” I know our guests sailing from Sydney will be delighted to see how their generosity is helping families stay close to their children while they receive the care they need.”
For families from Sydney’s outer suburbs or regional NSW, a child’s hospital stay can mean long commutes, overnight accommodation costs and time away from loved ones.
Guests can buy a $20 Conga for Kids T-Shirt on Carnival cruises from Sydney and Brisbane to help support the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, and the Queensland Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Earlier this year, Carnival Cruise Line donated more than 1,000 towels to local children learning to swim in Vanuatu.
