Carnival Cruise Line has marked Valentine’s Day with its largest-ever vow renewal at sea, with Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal virtually officiating ceremonies across the fleet.

More than 1,000 married couples on 28 ships gathered on Lido decks worldwide to reaffirm their vows, with celebrations beginning on Carnival’s Australia-based vessels. The symbolic ceremonies included a champagne toast, celebratory cake and surprise touches for participants.

“A big congratulations to all the couples who are sharing such a meaningful part of their lives with us,” said Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy. “Whether guests are renewing their vows or simply creating new memories together, we’re honoured to be part of the celebrations that make their time at sea so special.”

The Valentine’s Day event forms part of the cruise line’s broader wedding program, which offers year-round options for engagements, weddings and personalised vow renewals at sea. Carnival said nearly 1,500 additional couples celebrated milestones through its program last year in destinations around the world.
