Carnival Cruise Line has scrapped a repositioning voyage aboard Carnival Splendor that was set to sail from Singapore to Sydney on 1 September 2027, after revisions to the ship’s scheduled drydock period forced the cancellation.

Passengers booked on the sailing were notified on 18 June 2026 and given two options: a full refund of their cruise fare and any pre-purchased items, or the chance to transfer to a comparable sailing at a protected rate, sweetened with onboard credit of up to $50 per person (capped at $100 per stateroom).

The cancellation stems from changes to Carnival Splendor’s drydock window, which had been pencilled in for August 2027 ahead of the Singapore departure. Carnival acknowledged the disruption and said its teams are on hand to help affected guests rebook.

Those who wish to reschedule are being asked to contact Carnival’s Guest Services, their Personal Holiday Planner, or their travel agent by 3 July 2026.

Guests opting not to rebook require no further action – refunds will be returned to the original form of payment after 3 July 2026, with processing times of up to three weeks depending on the guest’s bank.

Affected passengers have already taken to social media to vent their frustration. In a post to a Carnival Splendor Facebook group, one cruiser confirmed receiving the cancellation email and said she was working out the best alternative, noting she had not yet booked flights or accommodation given how far out the sailing sits. Commenters suggested options including sailing to Singapore instead, booking with a different cruise line from Singapore, or exploring transpacific itineraries in September or October.

The scrapped itinerary was to have called at ports in Indonesia and Australia before arriving in Sydney. Cancellations of sailings this far in advance are not unusual, particularly where drydock scheduling, homeport changes, or fleet deployment decisions are involved.
