Luxury Escapes has revealed celebrity chef Shane Delia as host of its newest Signature Series tour through Malta.

The announcement marks Delia’s return after hosting Luxury Escapes’ sold-out Signature Series tour through Türkiye. The eight-day itinerary, departing in April next year, will guide travellers through the rich flavours, history and culture of Malta and its sister island, Gozo.

Travellers will experience Malta’s vibrant food scene firsthand, meeting the chefs, producers and local artisans behind some of the country’s most iconic dishes, including pastizzi (savoury pastries), freshly caught seafood and traditional slow-cooked stews.

“For me, Maltese cuisine right now is at its most exciting,” Delia said. “Growing up with a strong connection to my Maltese heritage, I’m excited to have the opportunity to share this destination with travellers and introduce them to the Malta I know and love.”

Alongside culinary experiences, travellers will explore Malta’s landscapes and rich heritage, including Mdina, the ancient, fortified city that famously served as King’s Landing in the first season of Game of Thrones.

“Australians are always searching for the newest undiscovered travel gem and Malta is on the cusp of becoming one of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after destinations,” Luxury Escapes co-founder and chief executive officer Adam Schwab said.

“While Italy, France and Greece continue to attract travellers year after year, Malta boasts rich history, spectacular coastlines, understated European glamour and an exceptional food scene that remains relatively undiscovered.”

Other highlights of the itinerary include a stay at the Michelin Key-awarded Phoenicia Malta, exclusive early morning access to St. John’s Co-Cathedral before it opens to the public, a half-day boat trip to the iconic Blue Lagoon and 14 meals featuring local produce, regional specialties and exclusive culinary experiences throughout Malta and Gozo.

The Malta Signature Series Tour is priced from AU$13,130 per person including all internal transfers, luxury accommodation, behind-the-scenes guided tours, select meals, and exclusive access to culinary experiences curated and personally hosted by Shane Delia.
