The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has wrapped up its biggest ever CLIA LIVE program on the Gold Coast, having brought together hundreds of travel agent members for in-person training around Australia and New Zealand.
This week’s event at the QT Surfers Paradise is the last of eight two-day seminars held in cities across the region over March, April and May.
Around 40 different cruise lines have taken part in this year’s CLIA LIVE program with about 800 tickets booked, making it the biggest seminar program ever offered by CLIA in Australasia. The Gold Coast event, held Tuesday and Wednesday, follows similar events held in Christchurch, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Auckland.
CLIA Australasia director of membership & events Marita Nosic said this year’s CLIA LIVE program had created a deeper understanding of the diversity of experiences available among CLIA cruise lines.
“This year’s CLIA LIVE sold out very quickly and showed again that Australian and New Zealand travel agents have a real passion for knowledge on cruising,” Nosic said. “These events have become incredibly popular, and they help consultants better understand the distinct character and appeal of each cruise brand, from ultra-luxury and adventure to family-friendly, expedition and river cruising.”
This year’s CLIA LIVE program had the theme “Find the Perfect Cruise Match: Discover the Personality Behind Every Brand”. Sessions provided detailed updates on the latest initiatives of each cruise line, while at the same time explaining the brand nuances and guest profile most suited to each operator.
The events were designed to suit both new-to-cruise travel agents as well as experienced cruise specialists looking to update their knowledge. Details of the 2027 CLIA LIVE program will be announced later this year.
