Club Med has opened bookings for Club Med Borneo, on the shores of Kuala Penyu, with travel advisors able to lock in dates for travel from November 16 2026.
In a first for Borneo, and following the success of Club Med Cherating, Club Med Borneo becomes the brand’s second Malaysian property and its first large-scale, sustainably built BREEAM-certified resort in Asia Pacific.
Where rainforest meets sea
Just 90 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Club Med Borneo is designed to blend in with its surroundings. From an Infinity Pool that merges with the horizon to a family-friendly Splash Park, guests can enjoy a variety of water experiences at Club Med Borneo. Dining options range from the buffet at the Alam to the upscale Laut, and the social hub Pasir. The Spa offers individual tropical chalets tucked deep within the forest, providing a serene escape with sunlit treatment rooms and tranquil walkways.

The resort features 400 rooms, including 39 Exclusive Collection Suites. The Mutiara Exclusive Collection Space offers a secluded ‘resort within a resort’ experience for travellers seeking an elevated Club Med experience with a private lounge, pool, and bar area.
With Borneo renowned for its orangutans, Club Med Borneo also offers travellers the chance to immerse in the destinations’ rich wildlife with the curated Sandakan Wildlife Discovery excursion. Available as a 3-day, 2-night or 2-day, 1-night experience, guests can visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where orphaned and injured orangutans are nurtured and taught essential jungle survival skills. Closer to the resort is the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, home to playful proboscis monkeys; and the Sun Bear Rehabilitation Centre, which cares for rescued bears and prepares them for life back in the wild.
Additional excursions include snorkeling in Pulau Tiga and river cruises through diverse wetlands, to encounters with macaques, water buffalos and the rare Proboscis monkey in the wild. Sabah’s rich heritage is showcased through curated activities, including local pottery workshops, interactive culinary classes, and traditional dance performances.

Sustainability
Sustainability is central to Club Med Borneo’s vision, with a BREEAM-certified design and pursuit of Green Globe certification, brought to life across four core pillars:
- eco-conscious infrastructure, which preserves ancient mangroves and coastal forests
- a zero-waste philosophy
- intelligent resource management, ensuring energy and water efficiency
- dedicated wildlife and biodiversity stewardship, protecting Sabah’s unique fauna and flora.
Together, these initiatives allow travellers to enjoy a premium, all-inclusive holiday while contributing to the preservation of one of Asia’s most extraordinary destinations. The development also supports local economic growth, generating over 350 direct and indirect jobs and employing hundreds of local construction workers during development.
“We are incredibly proud to launch Club Med Borneo,” Club Med Pacific and New ESAP Markets general manager Michelle Davies said. “As our first resort in Asia designed and built sustainably from inception in line with BREEAM certification, Club Med Borneo represents a major milestone for the brand and reflects our continued commitment to delivering premium, sustainable experiences in extraordinary destinations.
“Set amongst the destination’s natural surroundings, the resort opens the door to one of the world’s most captivating and emerging destinations, while delivering the ease and peace of mind of Club Med’s all-inclusive offering. From wildlife encounters and river cruises to world-class dining and thoughtfully designed spaces, it is a destination that invites guests to explore, unwind and reconnect with nature in absolute comfort.
