Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC), behind events such as Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, has taken out multiple wins at the prestigious international Eventex Awards 2025, bringing home three Gold and a Silver.

The internationally acclaimed Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, delivered by NTMEC and guided by curator Rhoda Roberts AO, in partnership with events destination company We Are Gather and creative directors Grumpy Sailor, is held annually in Alice Springs and has secured two Gold Awards in the Cultural Event and Australian/Oceanian Event categories, along with a Silver for Cross-channel Storytelling.

NTMEC also received Gold in the coveted Event Team category, celebrating the organisation’s professionalism, innovation, and excellence in event delivery.

With a record 1,239 entries from 59 countries across six continents, this year’s Eventex Awards were highly competitive – making NTMEC’s success all the more significant.

“Parrtjima is a truly memorable event that celebrates the world’s oldest living cultures, and these awards are testament to the collaborative efforts of the team, artists, and partners who bring this festival to life each year with so much passion and dedication.

“And for the NTMEC team to be recognised globally among such incredible competition in the Event Team category is very special for everyone involved,” executive director of Events, Aimee Luxton, said.

NTMEC’s portfolio of events includes Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, Million Dollar Fish, BASSINTHEGRASS music festival, betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars, Territory Day, Alice Springs Masters Games and the MXGP of Australia.

NTMEC’s events not only improve the liveability of the Northern Territory but also draw people from around the world to experience incredible events and immerse themselves in the unique cultures and landscapes of the Northern Territory.

Parrtjima 2024 lit up the Red Centre with 21,363 attendances and delivered an impressive $12.22 million boost to the Northern Territory economy, including $9.42 million flowing directly into Alice Springs. The 10-night festival generated 23,486 visitor nights in Alice Springs and nearly 30,000 across the Territory, reinforcing its status as a major tourism driver.

The 2024 event also broke new ground in audience experience, recording its highest-ever satisfaction rate — a remarkable 92% of attendees left satisfied, with a significant jump in top-tier ratings of 9 and above.

“This is a significant program powerfully presented and managed at what is a challenging time for the community: festival as a balm! There is much power in gathering, shared energy and around learnings and story – the layers of planning, complex stakeholder groups and the aspiration to always evolve makes this program remarkable! Well done to all involved and here’s to many more successful festival progams into the future,” said Adam Mortimer, Head of Brand Experience, Strategy & Partnerships, Designteam.

“This event seems like a beautiful celebration of the Aboriginal culture, history and traditions. Nicely build storytelling line through immersive art, food, and experiential elements. Not only that the team is building a strong community, which is a big and challenging task, but they also spread awareness and shift perceptions in the wider society,” said Stanislava Nedelcheva, Event Manager Europe & UK, Tata Consultancy Services.

“Clearly making a strong economic impact as well as delivering high profile and large-scale events. Demonstrating consistent growth and success, a great team indeed,” Mark Green, UK & EU Business Development Manager, QEII Centre, an Eventex Awards 2025 judge said about the NTMEC Team.

Fellow judge Devon Montgomery Pasha CMP, CED, Director, North America, Event Design Collective GmbH said: “What I saw here was a dedication to bringing awareness to a unique part of the globe while also maintaining a culture of excellence in events. This team knows how to adapt to their surroundings while also maintaining high standards for the events they produce.”
