There’s effective event planning, and then there is event planning with the power to change someone’s life.

And by that, we are of course talking about the UK man who reportedly changed his name to Celine Dion after becoming very affected by watching her concerts.

The man, who was previously named Thomas Dodd, told Birmingham Live that he filed to change his name after having a few too many drinks while watching a recording of one of Dion’s concerts.

“I am slightly obsessed with [her], I’m not going to lie,” he said.

“During lockdown, I’ve been watching a lot of live concerts on the TV. I can only think I’ve been watching one of hers and had a ‘great idea’ after a few drinks!”

The man reportedly received the official paperwork in the mail just after Christmas that informed him he had paid $162 for the name change.

“Tier 4 is the least of my worries – I’ve just got home to some post. Apparently, at some point over Christmas, I’ve had one too many vinos and legally changed my name to Celine Dion!” he said on Twitter.

However, the 30-year-old hospitality worker from Staffordshire said he was in no rush to change his name back.

“I’ll figure it out. I’m not rushing to change it back, that’s for sure,” he said.
