Harry Potter fans rejoice! Universal Studios Hollywood is finally opening its magical attraction.
The countdown has officially started to welcome ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’, with Universal announcing Spring 2016 as the arrival date for the ‘Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey’ in hyper 3D-HD.
More than five years in the making, and erupting straight from the pages of J.K Rowling’s books, ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ at Universal Studios Hollywood will bring the same level of authenticity as both Universal Orlando and Japan.
Visitors will be immerses in a land where Hogwarts and magic reign king, the former holding a focal point in the theme park.
“Harry Potter is an exhilarating multi-generational global phenomenon that has captivated the world’s attention across every one of its mediums, from books and movies to exhilarating theme park adventures,” Universal Studios Hollywood’s president Larry Kurzweil said.
“With its imminent arrival to The Entertainment Capital of L.A., Universal Studios Hollywood is thrilled to bring our guests a new, compelling experience of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ as we embark on this next chapter in our storied history.”
Like its counterparts, Hogwarts castle will sit at the heart of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ where the land’s signature ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, will take guests on a journey into many memorable scenes alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Travelling by Floo powder, guests will soar high above Hogwarts, partake in a Quidditch match, narrowly escape a dragon attack and have a close encounter with the Whomping Willow.
Sporting Quidditch-inspired 3D goggles, guests to the Forbidden Forest will venture through journeys experienced by Harry and his friends, spiralling and pivoting 360-degrees along an elevated ride track on a whirlwind adventure.
Also within Harry Potter’s new world, the enchanting family coaster, Flight of the Hippogriff will debut as Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor coaster.
Guests will revel in the chance to dine and drink at iconic spots like the Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head pub, as well the Magic Neep and Butterbeer carts.
And it wouldn’t be ringing true to the magical world without the memorable shops, with the park featuring eight retail locations, including Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.
