Global travel insurance provider Cover-More Group has confirmed that CEO Hanno Mijer has taken up a new executive leadership role with parent company Zurich Group.

Mijer will join Zurich’s commercial insurance business as head of commercial insurance services and report to its CEO James Shea.

Cover-More’s chief operating officer, Cara Morton, will lead the business as interim CEO to help navigate the travel insurance giant through the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for the resumption of global travel, according to a press statement.

Jack Howell, CEO of Zurich across the Asia-Pacific region, thanked Mijer for his valuable contribution and strong leadership of Cover-More since 2018.

Howell said that Cover-More, which was acquired by Zurich in 2017, remained a highly valued business within the company’s global operations.

Cover-More is currently one of top travel insurance providers in the world, with operations in 22 countries across five continents.
