Crooked Compass founder Lisa Pagotto is teaming up with international behavioural expert Mark Carter to deliver a series of leadership workshops focused on decision-making under pressure.
The series, titled When Leadership Counts, will run as half-day sessions in Melbourne on 17 July and Sydney on 7 August, with numbers capped to limit attendance.
Pagotto, who built and scaled Crooked Compass through the travel industry’s prolonged disruption during the pandemic, will draw on her experience of leading a business through crisis and rebuilding it from collapse. Her sessions are based on what she calls the FIRE framework – Faith, Integrity, Resilience, and Evolution – which she developed to help leaders maintain clarity when conventional approaches break down.
“Leadership today isn’t about having all the answers,” Pagotto said. “It’s about having the discipline to make the call when there isn’t one, and standing by it.”
Carter, who has worked in leadership development for more than 29 years, will contribute sessions combining behavioural science with practical frameworks. He is the author of several leadership titles and speaks internationally.
“Everyone is a leader at some point,” Carter said. “The question is whether you recognise those moments and know how to respond.”
Each session will cover Pagotto’s FIRE framework and a version of Carter’s leadership toolkit, closing with a joint segment on strategies participants can apply immediately. The workshops are aimed at business owners, executives and people leaders, as well as those in roles without a formal leadership title.
