Daydream Island Resort & Living Reef transformed into ‘Gaydream Island’ recently as part of a full island takeover and LGBTQIA+ celebration delivered in partnership with Australian LGBTQIA+ travel agency, Planetdwellers.
Welcoming 400 guests from around Australia, the five-day, four-night event highlighted Daydream Island’s capability to deliver large scale exclusive buyouts and high-volume group experiences in a fully contained island setting.
Across the resort, guests experienced a carefully curated schedule of entertainment, leisure and wellness offerings, including immersive themed parties, live poolside performances, laidback beachfront experiences and entertainment from headline drag artists, DJs and performers such as Hannah Conda, Minnie Cooper, Michael Griffiths and more.
Guests also had access to a broad range of on-island experiences such as rainforest hikes, beach volleyball, yoga and meditation sessions, while optional watersport activities such as snorkelling and jet skiing were available to book. The event also featured bespoke on-island touches including pop-up dining experiences and on-site retail offering for guests.
Organisers said the success of Gaydream Island further reinforces Daydream Island’s position as a versatile destination for full or partial buyouts and large-scale events and group experiences in the Whitsundays.
