Two Delta Air Lines flight attendants have filed a US federal lawsuit over the airline’s uniforms, claiming that they cause skin rashes, headaches and fatigue.

Global fashion retailer Lands’ End – not Delta – has been listed as the defendant in the case, which issued “Passport Plum” uniforms to 64,000 employees in May last year, according to the lawsuit.

The two flight attendants, Gwyneth Gilbert and Monica DeCrescentis, are claiming the uniforms cause skin rashes, headaches, fatigue, nausea, low white blood cell counts, breathing difficulties, and hair loss.

It’s also being alleged that the purple dye used in the uniforms stains the skin and possessions of employees.

The lawsuit is seeking more at least US$5 million ($7.1 million) in damages from Lands’ End for negligence.
