Dreamtime ups potential for regional NSW

15 international corporate incentive agents and three international journalists had the chance to visit the Central Coast’s Glenworth Valley last Friday as part of Dreamtime 2015.

NSW regional economies like the Central Coast scored a whopping A$21 million out of major international business events secured by the Business Events Sydney (BESydney) in 2014 and 2015.

BESydney chief executive Lyn Lewis-Smith said the figures demonstrated the allure of NSW’s diverse region as a backdrop for international conferences, conventions and reward programs.

And through such activity, the business events sector is supporting local jobs – business event visitors can spend up to 6.5 times more than holiday tourists.

“Good event facilities, accommodation and leisure activities all help to ‘sell’ regional NSW to business visitors,” Lewis-Smith said.

Lewis-Smith explained that Asian incentive delegates are high yielding, spending up to as much as 9.4 times as holiday visitors.

“We’ve seen 20% year-on-year growth over the past decade in the value of events secured from Asia and this market now accounts for almost half of the business we secure and deliver each year,” she said.
