In case you missed it this week, it was International Women’s Day!
To celebrate the occasion, Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia’s (EEAA) Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio was one of two thousand people who attended the official breakfast of UN Women.
Guests gathered to hear compelling reasons why everyone should work together to bring an end to violence against women and discrimination in the workplace.
“No matter where we sit in the corporate ladder or within our communities, we all have a responsibility to promote environments that enable women to flourish. Apart from being the right thing to do – it also makes economic sense,” said DiMascio.
“Companies that have diverse boards, that promote women and that create flexible workplaces for women and men, do better.”
The EEAA currently runs a Young Stars program, showcasing talented young women in the exhibition sector.
“It’s not unusual at our Young Stars events, to have a room full of mostly women. What a great talent pool for our industry – what a great talent pool of future leaders.”
DiMascio used the opportunity to recognise the talented women in the exhibition sector.
“Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, EEAA says thank you to the talented, strong, capable women in our industry. We call on you all to be proactive in creating workplaces where they can flourish at every stage of their career. I ask you all to revisit your policies and behaviours and ensure that women are given every opportunity to shine, to succeed and to be recognised.”
