The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) today holds its Annual General Meeting, with nominations open for seven of the 13 executive committee positions.

The candidates were announced recently in the lead up to today’s meeting, including a new position for an Association representative.

“The Association is in good shape and this augurs well for the incoming Board which can focus on the important areas of Strategy, Governance and Finance,” EEAA’s chief executive Joyce DiMascio said.

“In our most recent Market Monitor, EEAA Members expressed a high level of satisfaction with the Association and it is positive to see so many Members interested in ‘giving back’ to the industry by standing for election.

“Having a strong and capable Board is at the core of a healthy Association and we are very pleased with the breadth of experience in the candidacy which includes existing Board Members as well as candidates presenting for the first time.”

Nominations were called for representatives in all areas of the membership: organisers, association organisers, venues and suppliers.

DiMascio said there were three nominations for the organiser category to fill three positions – Spiro Anemogiannis, Informa Australia; Matt Pearce, Diversified Communications Australia; and Brian Thomas, Reed Exhibitions Australia – and as such, the nominees would be declared elected at the AGM.

She said all other executive committee positions will go to a ballot.

“The two nominations for the Association Organiser position are Richard Hogan, Australian Gift and Homewares Association; and Troy Williams, Australian Dental Industry Association,” DiMascio said.

“The two nominations for the Venue position are Anna Cesarano, Doltone House; and Bob O’Keeffe, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“The three nominations for the two Supplier positions are Paul Elliott, Harry the Hirer; Jo-Anne Kelleway, Info Salons Group; and Fred Lazzerini, Ungerboeck Software International.”

The EEAA AGM will be held at Sydney Showground in the venue’s newly renovated Sydney Royal Stables.

“We thank all the candidates for nominating to be part of the Board – the final composition of the Board will be declared following the ballot next week. We urge our Members to attend the Annual General Meeting to vote or cast their vote by proxy.”

“Congratulations to Spiro Anemogiannis, Matt Pearce, and Brian Thomas on their successful reappointment to the EEAA Executive Committee,” DiMascio added.

EEAA will be hosting a range of other events for Members around the AGM including a Business Environment Forum follow-up, a networking event and a Young Stars & Leaders Table.
