Emerald Cruises adds second luxury superyacht to its fleet

Emerald Cruises is adding a second luxury superyacht to its fleet, announcing the construction of Emerald Sakara.

The new build is expected to make her maiden voyage in 2023 through the islands of The Seychelles, which is a new destination for the cruise line.

Emerald Sakara will traverse the new eight-day Tropical Charms of the Seychelles, exploring Port Victoria (Mahé Island), Sainte-Anne Island, Cousin Island, Praslin Island, Grande-Soeur Island, Curieuse Island, La Digue Island and Aride Island.

Following her maiden voyage, Emerald Sakara will join sister superyacht Emerald Azzurra sailing the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Red and Black Seas.

Emerald Cruises said the additional capacity is required to keep up with strong demand for its ocean-going itineraries, which saw Black Sea sailings sell out within two weeks of being released, despite the global pandemic.

Construction is underway on the new 110-metre-long superyacht in Ha Long City, Vietnam, with the hull steel already cut. Like her sister superyacht, 88 per cent of cabins on Emerald Sakara enjoy balconies, and more space per guest in the Reflections Restaurant and Horizon Bar & Lounge, than similar vessels of her size.

The new build will feature a large infinity pool, a spa, gym and marina platform with paddleboards, snorkelling equipment and other marina toys available.

Not to mention, inclusive pricing covers all onboard meals, complimentary wines, beers and soft drinks at lunch and dinner, plus a number of included excursions and onboard activities. Airport transfers, port charges and taxes, WiFi, and onboard gratuities are also included.

David Winterton, global director of brand and marketing at Emerald Cruises, said the yacht’s name is Sanskrit for the idea of ‘thoughts becoming things,’ and refers to the philosophy that positive thoughts can manifest into reality.

“We love this idea, which underscores Emerald Cruises’ brand promise of bringing our guests’ luxury yacht cruise dreams to life, while offering exceptional value,” he said.

Emerald Cruises’ director of sales, marketing and product, Angus Crichton, said there has been a “strong response” to Emerald Sakara from Australia and New Zealand.

“The extra capacity and new destinations the second ship offers are certain to be welcomed by our travel agent partners and their clients,” he said.

Emerald Sakara is the 11th vessel in the Emerald Cruises fleet – joining nine river cruising Star-Ships and the brand’s ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra, which is due to commence sailing on 28 January 2022 with the eight-day ‘Best of the Red Sea’ itinerary.

Bookings for Emerald Sakara are on sale now.
