Emirates has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism Ireland for an additional two years, reaffirming its continued commitment to drive inbound tourism to Ireland from Australia and New Zealand.
The MoU was signed today by Barry Brown, Emirates’ divisional vice president of Australasia, and Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Australia and New Zealand.
Under the renewed partnership, both organisations will collaborate on joint activities to further amplify Ireland’s appeal as a growing leisure destination, attracting visitors from Emirates’ key markets including Australia, New Zealand and the UAE. Emirates and Tourism Ireland will also explore the possibility of developing joint promotional activities such as advertising campaigns and other initiatives.
Barry Brown, Divisional Vice President Australasia at Emirates commented: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with Tourism Ireland for another two years, which underscores Ireland’s strategic significance as a premier European gateway that offers unique cultural experiences and globally celebrated heritage landmarks. This continued collaboration reaffirms our commitment to enhancing inbound visitor numbers and advancing Ireland’s tourism aspirations by showcasing this extraordinary destination to travellers throughout Australia, New Zealand, and across our extensive global network.”
Our Dubai hub also serves as an ideal stopover for Australians travelling to Europe, offering seamless connections, convenient transit times and world-class airport facilities to enhance their journeys.”
Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Australia and New Zealand, said: “As an island destination, we know there’s a proven direct correlation between access and growth in visitor numbers. We look forward to continued close co-operation with Emirates, as we seek to maximise opportunities to grow tourism from Australia to the island of Ireland.”
Since the inaugural Dublin-Dubai flight in January 2012, Emirates has carried more than 3 million passengers on what has become one of the airline’s most successful routes. Travellers from Australia can conveniently connect to Ireland via the airline’s double daily flights to Dublin from Dubai on Emirates’ wide-body Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which can carry up to 1,440 passengers each day.
