If you’re planning on visiting Europe this year, we’ve got some very, very good news.

All Eurail Global Pass prices have been slashed by up to 37 per cent!

As Eurail celebrates 60 years in business, 2019 marks a year of exciting new product and pricing changes – making borderless travel within Europe easier and cheaper than ever before.

Overall, the updates to the Eurail offering showcase a simplified portfolio of Passes, with specific product and pricing changes designed to remove complexities and make it easier for travel agents to sell. The changes, which officially came into effect on 1 January 2019, mark Eurail’s 60th anniversary year of connecting Europe by rail, an impressive milestone for the much-loved rail pass.

The changes significantly reduce the cost of all Global Pass fares, introduce new countries accessible with a Global Pass, simplify the Eurail Pass portfolio, and extend discounts to senior travellers:

  1. Permanent price reduction – Eurail has permanently reduced all Global Pass fares by up to 37 per cent, with prices starting from as little as $265. Eurail will also introduce cheaper pricing for One Country Passes and Greek Island Passes, making the entire Eurail Pass portfolio more cost competitive. As a result of the new permanent price reductions, the Saver Pass will be discontinued in 2019.
  2. Eurail welcomes three new countries – Eurail has expanded the list of countries accessible via the Eurail Global Pass up from 28 to 31, with FYR Macedonia, Lithuania and Great Britain now included. The change means that travellers heading to the UK to visit friends and family can now easily combine travel across Great Britain with visits to other countries in Europe (connecting seamlessly to the continent and 35+ different rail and ferry operators, via Eurostar services).
  3. Simplified Pass options – The range of Eurail Passes has been streamlined, making it easier for agents to choose the right one for their clients. Three Pass types simplify travel across Europe, with the Eurail Global Pass granting travellers flexibility to access up to 31 different countries, the Eurail One Country Pass allowing unlimited travel for single-country itineraries, and the Greek Islands Pass enabling travellers to explore up to 53 different Greek Islands. As a result, and due to price reductions of the Eurail Global Pass, Select Passes will be discontinued in 2019.
  4. Further discounts – Senior and youth discounts are now available on all Eurail Passes, and children aged 11 or under continue to travel free. Eurail have also permanently added Adult 2nd Class tickets to all Pass options, offering all customers the choice between 1st and 2nd class travel.

Clarissa Mattos, Eurail Market Manager, said that these changes benefit both travellers and agents.

“Even after 60 years of travel, Eurail is as relevant as ever, with over 40,000 Australians using the rail pass to access over 10,000 destinations in Europe each year,” she said.

“As we celebrate 60 years of making memories, we’re thrilled to introduce these exciting new developments and make Eurail even more cost-efficient and accessible to our global travellers, and easier than ever for agents to sell the product”.

The latest product and pricing changes will not affect how agents’ book Eurail Passes; they can continue to book through their preferred Eurail distributor. Passes can be purchased up to eleven months in advance and include a range of benefits and discounts from over 100 other travel partners. Australian approved Eurail distributors include Rail Europe, Infinity Rail, Rail Tickets, STA Travel and International Rail.
