European Waterways has appointed marketing and communications consultancy Helm as its public relations partner across Australia and New Zealand.

Helm has offices in Sydney and Brisbane and offers strategic marketing and communications solutions for consciously-led travel, hospitality, property and design brands.

Helm’s current clients include Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Rolls-Royce and Bullo River Station.

The full-service agency with lead all local communications for European Waterways, drawing on its expertise in immersive, intentional and experience-led travel.

European Waterways marketing manager Paul Newman said that the partnership is a natural fit.

“As travellers increasingly seek slower, more meaningful journeys, we see significant opportunity across the Australian and New Zealand markets and are delighted to partner with Helm to further build awareness in the region,” he said.

“The Helm team has a longstanding connection with Europe and has spent years championing the kind of slow, immersive travel that European Waterways delivers so beautifully. This partnership feels like a natural fit because they understand the destinations, the experiences, and the travellers drawn to this style of journeying,” Newman said.

European Waterways operates a fleet of 18 premium barges through Europe’s inland waterways, from the vineyards of Burgundy and Champagne to the canals of Venice, the Scottish Highlands and UNESCO heritage-listed Canal du Midi.

The company was founded in 1974 and focuses on slow-travel itineraries with small guest numbers, bespoke land excursions and access to waterways unreachable by larger vessels.
