Experience Co Limited (EXP) announced the acquisition on 17 June, adding the West Beach aerial adventure park to its Treetops Adventure business unit and expanding that portfolio to 16 sites nationally.
Located within the 135-hectare West Beach Parks tourism precinct, roughly 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, the park features more than 70 aerial obstacles, a MegaClimb with a 30-metre MegaJump, a Giant Swing that reaches 10 metres and launches guests at speeds exceeding 70km/h, a children’s adventure area with ten courses and a mini zipline, and a Skywalk with views across the city. The site also includes a nationally recognised 30-metre observation tower that received an Excellence in Structural Engineering award.
The park attracts more than 25,000 visitors annually and serves a broad customer base including leisure visitors, schools, sporting clubs and corporate groups. A large grassed picnic and recreation area offers scope for future expansion.
Experience Co CEO John O’Sullivan said the acquisition fits squarely within the company’s growth strategy. “West Beach Adventure complements our 15 existing Treetops Adventure sites which offer multi-obstacle, high ropes and zipline courses,” he said, also citing the company’s urban adventure park portfolio, which includes Next Level on the Sunshine Coast.
O’Sullivan flagged ambitions to develop the site further. “We believe the site offers exceptional scope to extend the range of experiences and create a true adventure and entertainment mega-hub which further strengthens Adelaide’s appeal as a tourism and recreation destination.”
The park was founded and operated by Stephen Grundy and Bec Jarvis, who built it over the past decade into one of South Australia’s most successful adventure attractions. Grundy will remain involved in the business to support the transition.
“It was a difficult decision for us to sell West Beach Adventure, a business that has been our life for a decade,” Grundy said. “Once that decision was made, we couldn’t think of a better company to take on the legacy of Adelaide’s favourite aerial adventure facility.”
All 22 employees will transfer to the Treetops Adventure network under newly appointed general manager Mark Heinrich.
The acquisition adds to Experience Co’s broader portfolio, which includes Great Barrier Reef tours, Skydive Australia, NZOne and Skydive Wanaka.
