Extreme Bike Tours has seen its biggest year ever as travellers seek off-grid adventures and has added three new destinations for 2027 to meet surging demand, especially from Aussies.

Established in 2010 and headquartered in Sri Lanka, Extreme Bike Tours will this year offer 22 motorbike adventures on classic motorcycles in nine, far-flung destinations across three continents – the Himalayas in Nepal, India, Tibet, Mongolia, Bhutan and Sri Lanka – in Asia, Georgia in eastern Europe, and Namibia and Tanzania in Africa. This is 57 per cent more tours than offered in 2025.

And next year, Extreme Bike Tours is adding three new destinations for its popular, fully guided and supported, and all-inclusive tours – Japan, Thailand and also Kyrgyzstan in central Asia – with two 2027 departures to Kyrgyzstan already full, the Japan tours for next year close to capacity and the Sri Lankan tours also selling strongly for 2027.

The tours for licensed riders and pillion passengers range from 10 to 21 nights and include fuel, mechanical support, meals, transfers and accommodation in hotels, lodges, guesthouses and on some tours, tented camps.

“The acceleration of our business reflects a desire by more people to experience less-visited places ‘raw and wild’ – off the beaten-track and off-grid, with the freedom of remote roads, dust in your hair and authentic immersions in local cultures.” Extreme Bike Tours director Ben Lloyd said.

“Our guests today are yearning wild adventures far from anywhere, and amongst them are a lot of intrepid Aussies who love two-wheeled trips on some of the world’s most amazing roads, with Australia now commanding 70 per cent of our business.”

The 14-night Bhutan tours depart October 6 this year and also next year, onboard the reliable Honda NX500. Rated intermediate in riding skills, the 1250km itinerary traverses the mysterious kingdom of Bhutan from west to east, with between four and six hours of riding per day. Sights include Bhutan’s iconic ‘Tiger’s Nest’ monastery perched on a 3000m-high rock face, Bhutan’s mystical mountains and verdant valleys and spectacular mountain passes 3750m high, delivering thrilling motorbike riding.

Along the way, riders stay in enchanting hotels and family-run guesthouses with unique, local cuisine and warm hospitality enhancing the experience. Including accommodation, meals and full support, the guided, 14-night Bhutan tour this October or in October 2027, is available from US$5,175 per person (around AU$7,180.31), including a 10 per cent saving of booked before May 24, 2026.
