DanEmily_045

After a decade at the stoves of Appellation, further expanding on the restaurant’s Barossa growers story, executive chef Ryan Edwards is handing over the reins of one hatted Appellation to Daniel Murphy.

Daniel, a 30-year old born and bred Barossan, joins Appellation after opening St Hugo Restaurant with Mark McNamara, who was Appellation executive chef before Ryan Edwards. Daniel has close relationships with Barossa producers and providores, and he highlights their premium ingredients in his seasonally inspired cooking.

Prior to St Hugo, Daniel was part of the opening team at Fino Seppeltsfield and worked at Barossa restaurants Saltram and 1918. He previously honed his skills at Adelaide’s Jolley’s Boathouse for a number of years and has travelled extensively, bringing talent and experience to his new role.

Daniel returns to Appellation after an early stint as chef de partie with Ryan Edwards at Appellation in 2014. It was there that he met his future wife Emily Laubsch.

Chef Daniel will start at Appellation early August.
