Travel Weekly was recently lucky enough to board a Fiji Airways flight from Nadi to Sydney in Business, so we took the time to do a little flight wrap up.

Flight: Nadi to Sydney on Fiji Airways

When: Wednesday 20 December

Aircraft: Airbus A330-200, Flight FJ 911

Class: Business

Configuration: 2-2-2

Seat: 1K (window seat)

Duration: 4H30M

Verdict: 9/10

Baggage:

There’s no need to pack heavily when heading to Fiji, a few swimsuits and a sarong should suffice. Although that hasn’t stopped Fiji Airways offering Business passengers an allowance of two carry-on bags and a check-in bag weighing up to 40kgs; time to go souvenir crazy!

Checking in:

An amazing start to a flight, I was greeted at the Business check-in by a smiling attendant who checked me in quickly and told me how to get to the newly opened Business Lounge.

Onboard:

We were faced with only minor delays before take-off, due solely to the strikes taking place by airport staff. The rest of the flight was smooth sailing, little to no turbulence and unbelievably comfortable.

Service:

The flight attendants were very helpful throughout the flight, offering water, coffee and tea, as well as consistently being available to flyers.

Meals:

Sadly, due to the strikes, meals did not go to plan, likely the reason I’m forced to rate the flight 9/10.

As a morning flight, Business flyers would’ve been able to choose from various delicious egg options, unfortunately, we were not given this option.

However, it is important to highlight the extent to which the airline attempted to resurrect this issue, as Business passengers were still given a continental breakfast, consisting of fruit, yoghurt, baked goods and biscuits.

Entertainment:

As a self-confessed newbie to the realm of Business Class travel, the entertainment system blew me away. The sheer size of the screen was entertaining in itself, let alone the vast choice of new releases, classics, and everything in between.

I watched The Intern, stared at the flight plan and then began rewatching La La Land as we were coming into Sydney.

Comfort:

The windows were huge, my private area allowed me to stretch out more than my own bedroom and my seat was more comfortable than my bed.

All in all, my Fiji Airways Business Class flight was like nothing I’d ever experienced, and I would happily sit in my 1K seat over and over and over again.
