Anna Burgdorf has revealed that she will be leaving Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) at the end of this week after 6 years leading the brand and marketing division for the Group’s luxury offering.
Burgdorf joined Flight Centre in September 2018 after spending 22 years at Audi Australia. After joining the company as GM marketing and product for premium brands, she quickly rose through the ranks, becoming global brand and marketing director – luxury leisure brands in 2022.
Flight Centre’s luxury offering has evolved significantly during Burgdorf’s tenure. Just last month it was announced that 80 per cent of Travel Associates agents who were part of the Virtuoso network departed at the beginning of the year have joined Flight Centre Travel Group’s Luxury Travel Collection (LTC). The Travel Associates agents joined the Virtuoso network as an initial stepping-stone into the luxury market in 2021.
Burgdorf announced the news via LinkedIn saying: “One of my favourite phrases is by Roman poet, Virgil – ‘Fortune favours the bold’.”
“At the end of the week, I am saying goodbye to my amazing Flight Centre Travel Group family after 6 incredible years. During that time, which included COVID, I learned so much about resilience, resurrection, loyalty and the importance of being bold.
“I’ve been so fortunate to do what I love the most – creating and shaping brands and developing the brand qualities and strategies that deliver strength and growth.
She did not confirm her next moves but hinted at a passion project.
“I have loved every moment of my intensely satisfying time in this incredible company and have had the honour of meeting and working with so many extraordinary people.
“Now, however, it’s time to put that favourite phrase of mine into action and take that next bold step to find my new passion project.”
