More than 140 members of the G Adventures community across Australia and New Zealand came together for the inaugural 10-kilometre ‘Raise The Community’ walk.
Held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, the event brought together G Adventures staff, travel advisors, supplier partners, friends and family to raise funds for G Adventures’
Some remote walkers even took part from Noosa, Gerringong, Canberra and Christchurch with founder Bruce Poon-Tip joining in from London to complete his own 10-kilometres in solidarity with the ANZ community.
G Adventures managing director ANZ Sean Martin joined the Brisbane walk, noting that the event demonstrated the strength of the travel industry’s collective impact.
“Travel has always been about bringing people together, and that’s exactly what we saw with Raise The Community. It was incredibly inspiring to see so many of our team, travel agent partners, suppliers, friends and family step up – rain, shine and across different time zones – to support Planeterra and the communities we work alongside around the world,” Martin said.
“Community tourism creates real opportunities for local people, and every dollar raised helps Planeterra continue that important work and gets us one step closer to our Project 300 goal.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who walked with us and helped turn a simple 10-kilometres into something that will have a lasting impact,” he said.
Project 300 is a joint commitment between G Adventures and Planterra to uplift 300 communities through travel initiatives by the year 2030.
