Capella Hotel Group and Brisbane based developer Verso Projects have unveiled plans to debut Capella Residences Brisbane in 2029.
The property marks the third Capella Residences globally after Seoul and Bangkok, and the first branded residence of any kind in Brisbane.
Set along the Brisbane River at Kangaroo Point, Capella Residences Brisbane will restore and reimagine the historic Shafston House estate that has occupied the site for more than 174 years.

The project aims to set a new benchmark for integrated residential living in Queensland, combining world-class design, bespoke interiors, and hotel-inspired services.
The lifestyle precinct will operate like a hotel where its residents are the only guests. They will have access to communal recreation and residential facilities, including a signature Capella Living Room, integrating the luxuries of exceptional hotel amenities with the intimacy and comfort of a private home.
Two River Homes will be constructed along the embankment, complemented by a private marina, porte cochère with drop-off and pick-up facilities, and private basement garage parking.
Expansive gardens designed by award-winning landscape architects and six pools sweeten the deal.

Brisbane’s compelling new luxury market
The project comes ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games, as the world turns its attention to a city that is emerging as a compelling market for new hospitality development.
“Brisbane is a city on the cusp of something remarkable, and Capella Residences is our commitment to being part of that story,” President of Capella Hotel Group Roland Fasel said.
“The Capella residential experience is more than luxury – it is about a sense of belonging to a place with deep meaning. Verso Projects is the ideal partner to bring this vision to life, and together we look forward to introducing our brand of bespoke, culture-led living to the Australian market for the first time,” Fasel said.
CEO of Verso Projects, Steve Laffey, said that the partnership represented a shared commitment to delivering something exceptional for Brisbane.
“We feel honoured to be restoring Shafston Estate to its former glory, elevating it to new heights of luxury and excellence underpinned by Capella’s distinctive service ethos and design philosophy, and making it a standout landmark in Brisbane,” Laffey said.
“By partnering with Capella – globally recognised for its refined approach to luxury hospitality and deep respect for cultural and historical context – we will elevate this project beyond a residential offering into a world-class destination.”
