Some 42 years after Adelaide’s Ross McDonald revolutionised barbecuing in Australia by introducing the nation to lid down cooking, Adelaide is about to debut another first in barbecuing.

Weber Barbecues Australia has unveiled Australia’s first Grill Academy, located in the city’s eastern corner on the top level of 142 Fullarton Road, Rose Park.

With views across Victoria Park to the city, the Weber Grill Academy is a space for corporate and private events, and offers a range of interactive and educational public barbecue experiences.

The $1.5 million development project includes a huge 120-square-metre, all-weather balcony complete with the full range of Weber barbecues ready for action from the Original Kettle to the popular Weber Qs, right to the top-of-the-range Summit Series, and Weber’s newly released and debut wood-fired barbecue, the SmokeFire.

Capacities for events and meetings will be adjusted as required to meet COVID restrictions, and full “hands-on-tongs” interactive barbecue experiences are limited to around 20 guests to ensure maximum interaction with barbecues and Grill Specialists.

The indoor space is replete with full bar and catering facilities and state-of-the-art AV equipment, including the ability to close off the room for visual presentations and a separate meeting room.

The public offering is available to everyone with a desire to develop their current level of barbecuing prowess.

Whether they’ve never ventured further than steak or chop, or can already turn their hand to curries, desserts and the perfect roast, the Weber Grill Academy barbecue experiences will always offer up new skill opportunities.
