Those travelling with the Globus family of brands (GFOB) will now need to provide proof of vaccination for both domestic and international trips.

The new policy means that all travellers joining any Globus, Cosmos, Avalon Waterways or Monograms trip will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, completed at least 14 days prior to embarkation.

GFOB said it will accept vaccines authorised or approved by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, the European Centre for Disease Prevention or an official government body.

“Our number one priority is and always will be, the health and safety of our guests and crew – this is a responsibility we take very seriously,” said Gai Tyrrell, the regional managing director of GFOB.

“Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination is just another layer to our commitment of providing and assuring our guests a safe means of exploring the destinations they’ve been yearning to visit.

“We’ve made a conscious effort to announce this new prerequisite as soon as possible to allow our guests and those with plans to travel ample time to consider this new requirement.”

In other GFOB news, the company has partnered with Trees4Travel as part of its Lighthouse Project to offset Avalon Waterways passengers’ carbon footprint in 2022 by donating tens of thousands of trees.

Unveiled in April, the Lighthouse Project was created to help travellers reduce their impact on the environment and give back to the world they journey through.

Those travelling with Globus, Cosmos or Monograms will also have the opportunity to easily offset their flights and holidays through Trees4Travel via URLs available on each brand’s website.

GFOB is also working with the non-profit organisation to offset office facility emissions and staff travel.

According to Trees4Travel, the first 10 years of each tree’s life will supplement travel, while the next 140 years of the lifespan of each tree will simply benefit the earth.

“Through our Lighthouse Project, Avalon is charting an ambitious course toward zero emissions and sustainability in every aspect of cruising,” said Tyrrell.

“Our state-of-the-art fleet of suite ships and top-of-the-line technology limit energy, consumption and emissions.

“Plus, Avalon’s waste and recycling programs reduce our environmental footprint. This is just the beginning. We’re aiming to have the first, fully electric river cruise vessel by 2027.”
