Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has announced a timely partnership with Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, bringing travellers some of the world’s finest cruise and rail journeys.

Both cruise and rail travel are surging in popularity, with both groups adding more new routes and departures for the coming year. Seamlessly connecting itineraries onboard a private train and a river ship, this is perhaps the ultimate European slow travel experience.

This special itinerary across France launched in 2025 and combines with Uniworld’s grand Paris and Normandy cruise to deliver 15 days of exceptional fully inclusive luxury. Sailing from Paris will be onboard the gorgeous S.S Joie de Vivre ship for seven nights, then joining the famed Golden Eagle Danube Express to journey through central Europe to historic Istanbul.

The Uniworld and Golden Eagle partnership focuses on European destinations including the Swiss Alps to the Danube. Routes have been selected for their cultural richness, historical significance, and stunning landscapes, which can be captured both by river and rail. Connecting Uniworld’s river cruise expertise and Golden Eagle’s private rail itineraries offers travellers magnificent journeys across Europe to the most coveted destinations along with hidden gems.

“This partnership leverages complementary strengths, river access and rail travel through scenic routes, offering unique, hassle-free experiences like multi-country European adventures,” Golden Eagle Luxury Trains product development director James Masterson said. “By aligning curated excursions, gourmet dining, and high-touch service, these journeys offer exclusive, culturally rich journeys in style comfort and safety.

“It’s more than going on a train trip then a cruise. We’re about designing journeys that flow naturally through diverse landscapes and cultures, such as traversing the Swiss Alps by rail before gliding down the Danube or Seine by ship. The journeys are for travellers valuing depth and variety over speed.”

“Research tells us that agents aren’t just booking a one-week river cruise for their clients,” Uniworld’s Australasian managing director Alice Ager said.

“The combinations with Golden Eagle are stunning and our guests and agents love the itineraries. Rail and cruise are selling particularly well here in Australia and New Zealand. We love partnering with Golden Eagle. Their ethos of excellence and deep immersive experiences make these pairings a perfect match.”
