Good Boy, a new, premium adults-only and pet-friendly accommodation, has launched in Jurien Bay, a Western Australia destination that is part of the Coral Coast Highway road trip from Perth to Ningaloo.
Good Boy, which opens this month, is a 5-minute walk to the beach, on the sheltered Jurien Bay Marine Park.
This adults-only two-bedroom home sweet home was designed for Henry, a well-behaved yellow labradoodle who doesn’t get on the lounge, dig in the garden or go inside covered in sand.
Henry has been taking long, slow beach walks in Jurien Bay for many years now, and invites furry friends – and those minus a fur baby – to share in the dream.
“We have created a calming haven for those with or without dogs,” Henry’s mum said. “I wanted to create a holiday space that has all the premium comforts of home and retains the retro essence of Jurien Bay. Sure, you can stay here if you have a dog, but our gorgeous beach shack is for all good boys and girls – regardless of their fur or fur-parental status.”
Henry’s mum enjoys the finer things in life. Soft linen, plush bedding, premium furniture, commissioned artwork, quality appliances and carefully considered amenities – they are just as important as the destination itself.
“Everything at Good Boy has been carefully considered, while retaining the beach shack feel,” she added. “We have intentionally retained some of the original wooden textures, while incorporating new elements through furniture, blinds and king-sized bed selection. The retro essence of Jurien Bay comes through in the colour palettes of our new retro green kitchen and beach blue exterior.
“We made a deliberate decision to furnish the accommodation from Fenton & Fenton, West Elm and Ethni Craft. The towels are from Sheridan. It is important to offer something different for the town with casual beachside luxury.”
For the pooch guests there’s peanut butter dog biscuits, tennis balls, food and water bowls, toys and even an outdoor shower. Pet-friendly holidays are seeing a surge in popularity. According to Budget Direct, the dog data points to 63 per cent of owners take their pet on holiday because they are part of the family.
Sixty-one per cent of owners could travel up to four hours in one sitting, without toilet breaks – making Jurien Bay the perfect destination at 2.5 hours north of Perth.
“We are seeing increased traffic to the pet-friendly section on our website as local travellers seek to road trip with their dogs,” Australia’s Coral Coast CEO, David O’Malley, said.
Located on the Indian Ocean Drive and Coral Coast Highway road trips, the coastal route north of Perth has long been on the must-do list for many Aussies and offers something new to those who might typically visit other destinations.
“Daniel Ricciardo did it, so we encourage all Australians to drive the dream,” he said. “It is about slowing down and connecting with nature – and your loved one – which is more appealing today than it ever has been.”
The Jurien Bay area is renowned for swimming with sea lions, the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, seasonal wildflowers and pristine beaches – with almost nobody else around.
