Virgin Australia is allowing eligible guests travelling on a domestic Economy Flex fare to book an available earlier same-day flight with no change fee or fare difference.
Through the Virgin Australia app’s new Fly Ahead feature, bookings can be changed on the day of travel.
The updates come following reports that 44,000 Virgin Australia guests moved to earlier flights over the past 12 months, saving a combined 143,000 hours in airport dwell time.
With 65 per cent of business travellers saying that flexibility influences their choice of airline, Fly Ahead provides control and convenience at no extra cost.

Virgin Australia group executive, Libby Minogue, said the expansion of Fly Ahead reflects the airline’s commitment to listening to guests and delivering flexibility when plans change.
“At Virgin Australia, we listen closely to our guests, and one thing we hear consistently, particularly from our business travellers, is that they want more flexibility and control when plans change,” Minogue said.
“That’s why we’re proud to be the only Australian airline offering superior flexibility to our Flex ticket holders. The change will help our guests get home sooner, make an earlier meeting or maximise their time.
“We also know that delivering value is more important than ever as households and businesses continue to navigate cost-of-living and inflationary pressures. This enhancement gives our guests greater flexibility without the added costs often associated with changing travel plans, reinforcing our commitment to offering value where it matters most,” she said.
