Well-known Australian boutique wholesaler, Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre (GMTC) have launched a new sub-brand, Luxury Greece Collection (LGC) to meet growing demand in the upmarket sector.

Hosting a lavish gathering with travel trade on Friday, GMTC managing director Halina Kubica said the new luxury product range “fills a gap in the Australian market for a high-end Greece specialist and builds on increased demand from customers seeking niche accommodation and services”.

Australian arrivals to Greece are at an all time high, with 324,000 travelling to Greece in 2017. Overall, confidence has returned to the country with 2017 peaking as a record year of the past five years for visitors to 30 million, up 7.49 per cent year on year. A new record is expected to be met this year, with arrivals to June already at 10.5 million.

The demand for high-end luxury travel is being met with new resort offerings, including the Myconian Collection, featured in the dedicated LGC brochure alongside unique experiences and transfers.

“Bespoke accommodation has always been available to book in Greece with us, but with interest continuing to rise, we felt now was the time to emphasis our range of top-of-the-line products in Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Crete and beyond,” Kubica said.

According to Kubica, GMTC has invested years of research into identifying which products and services are suitable for the Australian market, and the company says it can be trusted to make sure they match the right product to the client’s requirements.

“We make sure we source products for the Australian market. The internet is for everyone, but we are careful what products we offer,” Kubica said.

Historically transport in Greece can be a hit and miss, but according to Kubica not many travel agents are aware that working with GMTC “not only saves the client time, but often also hundreds of dollars”.

The new brochure also showcases unique experiences available, including private guided tours, dining in Michelin-starred restaurants, wine tasting with sommeliers and learning the secrets to Greek cuisine.

As a division of GMTC, all bookings made with LGC are supported by their Athens-based office, offering clients on the ground assistance 24/7.
