Halcyon House, the boutique hotel on Cabarita Beach, has appointed Magnus Hojden as its new general manager. He brings a balanced leadership approach that aligns with the hotel’s laidback luxury aesthetic and commitment to intuitive, guest-centred service.

Renowned for its design-led style and warm, personalised hospitality, Halcyon House has been consecutively named one of the Top 10 Hotels in Australia in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, reaffirming its position as one of the country’s most celebrated hotels.

Hojden joins Halcyon House following senior leadership roles with Accor Hotels – including acting area general manager for Peppers Soul Broadbeach – and as general manager at The Fantauzzo Hotel and The Johnson Hotel, Brisbane.

His career began at London’s Charlotte Street Hotel under the renowned Firmdale Hotels group, instilling a deep understanding of personalised service and design-driven hospitality. Most recently he expanded his expertise at Kira & Kira, a celebrated interior design showroom and studio, strengthening his appreciation for craftsmanship, detail, and atmosphere – all hallmarks of Halcyon House.

“Halcyon House is beloved for its warmth, beauty and character, but what truly sets it apart is the feeling it creates for guests,” Hojden said. “Luxury today is about intuitive service – anticipating needs before they’re expressed – and crafting hyper-local, meaningful experiences that foster real connection. From partnering with local creators and wellness leaders to evolving how we personalise each stay, I’m excited to build on the hotel’s legacy and continue delivering moments that feel effortless, considered and deeply memorable.”

“Magnus brings a unique blend of boutique hotel expertise, operational excellence, and design appreciation, making him an exceptional fit for Halcyon House,” Halcyon House co-founder Elisha Bickle said.

“His approach to leadership and service – thoughtful, anticipatory and guest-focused – aligns perfectly with our vision. We’re thrilled to welcome him and look forward to this next chapter, where outstanding service, curated experiences and meaningful connections will continue to define Halcyon House as one of Australia’s most celebrated boutique escapes.”

With a leadership style grounded in integrity, empowerment, and attention to detail, Magnus is committed to creating tailored, unique guest experiences that reflect Halcyon House’s signature warmth and sophistication, further strengthening its reputation as one of Australia’s leading boutique hotels.
