Hawaiian Airlines and Virgin Australia treat passengers to mai tais and hula at Sydney Airport

Hawaiian Airlines brought a taste of Hawaii to the Virgin Australia Lounge at Sydney Airport’s domestic terminal last week with an ‘Aloha Friday’ pop-up bar.

Serving mai tais and Hawaiian cocktails, Hawaiian entertained Virgin’s lounge guests with a ukulele player and hula dancers, as well as treating them with Honolulu Cookie Company treats and kukui nut leis.

Lounge guests also received a special offer for discounted Hawaiian Airlines flights from Sydney or Brisbane to Honolulu and Hawaii’s neighbour islands.

The activation highlighted Hawaiian Airlines’ partnership with Virgin, which allows Velocity Frequent Flyer members to earn and redeem Velocity Points when flying with Hawaiian between Australia and Honolulu and Hawaii’s neighbour islands. Members can also earn status credits on all eligible fare types.

Hawaiian Airlines and Virgin expanded their codeshare agreement earlier this year to offer travellers throughout Australia a broader and more convenient network of flights to Hawaii.

The enhanced partnership provides greater access to the Hawaiian Islands for travellers originating from beyond Hawaiian’s gateways of Sydney and Brisbane.

Guests travelling to Hawaii from cities including Melbourne, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay can now connect on Hawaiian Airlines codeshare flights to Brisbane and Sydney operated by Virgin.

Furthermore, Virgin guests can now book non-stop flights from Brisbane and Sydney to Honolulu and beyond to Maui, Kauai, and Kona on the Island of Hawaii on flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines.
