Heavens Portfolio recently wrapped up its first famil trip to Bangkok and Bhutan with a group of five leading Australian luxury travel advisors.
Heavens Portfolio director of sales Abigail Leslie led the famil trip alongside DMC partner Far & Beyond’s Vinay Dhall.
The journey began in Bangkok at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences before the group moved north towards the Himalayas and into Bhutan.
The itinerary took the group through Thimphu, the Phobjikha Valley, the Punakha Valley, and finally Paro. Cultural experiences such as prayer ceremonies, archery, butter lamp rituals, and an introduction to Bhutan’s philosophy were part of the trip.
The group first stayed in Six Senses Thimphu, a property that sits high in a steep valley encircled by pine forests, forested mountains, and apple orchards. In Thimphu, the group watched locals partake in ceremony at the King’s Memorial Chorten.
In Phobjikha Valley, the group stayed at Taj Gangtey Resort & Spa, which is positioned above the valley with just 35 rooms. While here, the group walked through Gangtey Nature Trail, a light trek through meadows, forests, and local villages.
The itinerary took the group to Punakha Valley next. They stayed at Pemako Punakha, a property that offers Bhutanese-inspired tented villas tucked into the landscape, each with its own heated private pool and expansive terrace.
Heavens Portfolio then took the group to Paro, the gateway to Bhutan and home to its oldest temples and monasteries. The group rested at Taj Paro Resort & Spa, retreat set among forested hills with sweeping mountain views, before setting out for the final destination.
The journey concluded in the pilgrimage to Paro Taktsang – Tiger’s Nest – on a foggy, rain-soaked morning during an annual spiritual retreat, with hundreds of monks gathered in prayer.
