Heritage Expeditions is returning to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, and the Falkland Islands in November on an exclusive preview voyage aboard the new expedition vessel, Heritage Discoverer, ahead of her maiden 2027/28 season release.
Commercial director and expedition leader Aaron Russ said the new 21-day voyage, The Ultimate South Georgia, Falklands and Antarctic Peninsula Cruise, was a welcome return to a beloved area of Antarctica. He also said it was an unmissable opportunity to experience the newest addition to Heritage Expeditions’ fleet while exploring one of the planet’s great, unspoiled wilderness environments.
“Heritage Discoverer was purpose-built for authentic adventures like this and I can think of no better first voyage than navigating and exploring the rich history, astounding wildlife and frozen landscapes of these wild and remote parts of the world,” Russ added.
Highlights of the return Ushuaia voyage include two days exploring East and West Falkland Islands – where five species of penguin are joined by the world’s largest Black-browed Albatross colony, lazing Southern Sea Lions, South American Fur Seals and Southern Elephant Seals, endemic birdlife, and the historic capital of Stanley.
Guests then have four days to explore the wildlife sanctuary of South Georgia, also known as the ‘Serengeti of the Southern Ocean’, one of the world’s wildlife hot spots where penguins, sea birds and Antarctic Fur Seals number in their millions, and pay their respects at the grave of heroic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton at Grytviken.
The voyage culminates with five days, each with more than 20-hours of daylight, to explore early season Antarctica following in the footsteps of heroic explorers. Timed to coincide with the arrival of the breeding season, when Antarctica’s wildlife converges in full force and mating behaviours at chaotic penguin cities can be observed. It is also when icebergs, frequently clad with Chinstrap, Gentoo and Adelie Penguins, are at their most captivating and Weddell, Leopard and Crabeater Seals, Humpback and Minke Whales, and Orca all visit these important feeding grounds. Landings and visits can include iconic sites like Cuverville Island, Paradise Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Cierva Cove, Whalers Bay, Brown Bluff, and Elephant Island.
Sailing back to Ushuaia, guests cross the legendary Drake Passage, one of the world’s great ocean crossings, and cement their place among the historic explorers who have navigated these famous waters.

The new voyage, released today, includes a special 40 per cent discount for returning Heritage Expeditions guests and a 30 per cent discount for first time travellers with the company when booked by 30 June 2026.
