Heritage Line’s Upper Mekong ship, Anouvong, will return to Laos on 31 July after an extensive redesign, and offering new itineraries.

The refreshed ship, which sails between Luang Prabang and the Golden Triangle, features a refreshed exterior, upgraded onboard facilities, redesigned public spaces, and selected itinerary enhancements, including new shore experiences in Pak Sith and Ban Baw, replacing the previous visits to Khok Phou and Huay Phaluang.

“Heritage Line ‘Anouvong’ has always celebrated the beauty of the Upper Mekong, and with this refurbishment we wanted to deepen that connection by drawing even greater inspiration from Laos itself,” Heritage Line director of sales and marketing Andreas Schroetter said.

“Our hope is that guests come away not only with memories of a beautiful journey, but with a real appreciation for the culture, heritage, and communities that make the Upper Mekong so distinctive.”

One of the key changes is Anouvong’s renewed exterior, which introduces a new visual identity inspired by the architecture and cultural heritage of Laos. The ship’s new maroon and white colour palette draws inspiration from the iconic Vat of Luang Prabang.

The refurbished interiors include enhancements such as softer lighting, redesigned wall finishes in the buffet restaurant, and refinements to suite furnishings and decorative elements. Guests can find the most extensive changes in the spa and bar.

Heritage Line renamed the former ‘Nam Khan’ Signature Suite in the vessel to ‘Anouvong,’ establishing a closer connection to the ship’s identity and the historical figure it honours, King Chao Anouvong.
