The coveted awards have been handed out, with a suburban beachside property winning over exotic choices in Italy, New York and London.
Travel site Mr & Mrs Smith, along with a slew of hip judges have awarded Australia’s Halcyon House in Cabarita Beach in northern NSW as the world’s ‘Best Smith Hotel’. The property received 25,000 votes from the public.
“As the only category voted for by the public, Best Smith Hotel is a serious accolade. Halcyon House burst on to the scene as a new opening last year, and has since become one of the most impressive boltholes on our books. With its good looks and down to earth charm, it’s a well-deserved winner,” Mr & Mrs Smith’s James Lohan said, per a report in News.com.au.
The awards are a collection made by anonymous reviews from paying guests, with final picks chosen by the judging panel, who includes Sydney designers Louise Olsen, Stephen Ormandy, Melbourne-based jewellery designer, Lucy Folk along with international fashion designers.
Other noteworthy Australian winner is the freshly revamped Old Clare Hotel in Sydney, winning ‘Best Gourmet Getaway’.
