Hobart Airport in Tasmania won the Airport Retail and Commercial Business Excellence Award from the Australian Airports Association.
The award highlights Hobart Airport’s efforts to enhance the passenger experience and strengthen commercial performance through its once-in-a-generation redevelopment.
“We’ve taken a long-term approach, investing in facilities, partnerships and a broader range of products and services that improve the journey for our passengers while creating value for Tasmania,” Hobart Airport chief financial and commercial officer Kate Gillies said.
“Since 2022, Hobart Airport has been delivering a half-billion-dollar airport-wide transformation, including upgrades to accommodate wide-bodied aircraft, expansion of the terminal, enhanced ground transport facilities and investment across the airport precinct.
“As Tasmania’s principal gateway, we have a unique opportunity to create an airport that reflects the quality of our destination,” Gillies added.
Hobart Airport will host the Australian Airports Association Retail and Commercial Forum in 2027.
“We’re proud of this recognition, but we’re only part way through our journey and we’re excited about what’s still to come,” Gillies said. “We’re delighted to welcome airport industry leaders from across Australia to Hobart in 2027.”
Australian Airports Association announced the winners of its National Airport Industry Awards at the Airport Retail and Commercial Forum in Cairns.
Earlier this month, the airport opened its new arrivals area as part of its $200 million terminal expansion. In May, it opened new departure gates.
