It is no secret that an appetite for food-based travel experiences are on the rise. In fact, a recent survey of Marriott’s high net worth travellers, shows that 88 per cent are planning their holiday around food.
Still, Pei Shyuan Yeo (known as P.S) – founder of Everyday Tour Company – was surprised when she noticed a familiar face on her food tour.
Everyday Tour Company is a food and design tour company focusing on bespoke and immersive food and design experiences in Singapore.
Showing up for one of her Singaporean food tours was no other than Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore.
P.S said her family came to experience the culinary delights of the tour during the month of August.
“Over the course of a few days, the family explored several Singaporean sights. Some of her favorite activities include shopping for vintage and bohemian chic at Haji Lane and having her first henna tattoo in Little India. Given her down-to-earth attitude and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, the food tour at a local hawker market was also another highlight for her,” P.S continued.
Launched in November 2018, Everyday Tour Company has already gained a cult following. Its food tours have been recognised as Singapore’s best by TimeOut “The best food tours in Singapore”. Its tours are also regularly featured by the Singapore Tourism Board by local and overseas international media/lifestyle publications.
After years of living abroad in the United States, Europe, and Asia, P.S decided to focus her attentions on Singapore.
“Living overseas changed my life forever. In 2013, I relocated back permanently and realised what an amazing and culturally diverse city Singapore is,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I truly believe that food is a mirror and reflection into the people and the culture and always enjoyed exploring the local markets whenever I travel. I’m also in love with the urban design and architecture of the city. From colonial architecture to contemporary social housing, the cityscape is a eclectic mix of old and new,” she added.
“Our tours are generally small and bespoke with an emphasis on good food. I love meeting the right clients for whom I can create a special, fun, and intimate introduction to my favourite places and meet with my friends at the food markets.”
