Banyan Tree Samui delivers idyllic luxury getaways and honeymoons in private villa shaped packages. Uninterrupted ocean views and a level of service that anticipates every moment. The resort is effortlessly romantic, from floating breakfasts served directly into your villa pool to couple-focused spa experiences designed for relaxation and connection.

Welcome 9/10

Guests are greeted with a refreshing elixir drink on arrival, before being guided through the traditional peeling of a lotus flower, a symbolic gesture of good luck and new beginnings. Check-in feels relaxed and seamless, before you are introduced to your dedicated villa host, who remains on hand throughout the stay to coordinate everything from dining reservations to spa bookings. A short buggy ride then brings guests to their villa, offering a first glimpse of the sweeping views that define the resort.

Location 10/10

The resort sits on lush hillsides cascading down to Lamai Bay, home to one of only four private beaches on Koh Samui. Each private villa is thoughtfully spaced to maximise both views and seclusion. For honeymooners, this layout enhances the sense of retreat, allowing couples to fully switch off while still enjoying everything the resort has to offer.

Dining 9/10

Michelin-recognised restaurant Saffron naturally becomes the centrepiece for a honeymoon evening, where elevated dining meets an equally impressive sunset.

The menu exceeds expectations, offering a refined expression of Thai cuisine where local ingredients take centre stage. Signature dishes such as a fragrant coconut chicken soup layered with lemongrass, galangal and kaffir lime showcase both depth of flavour and precision in execution, while desserts highlight local favourites – the mango sticky rice was exceptional.

Beyond Saffron, the dining experience evolves across the week, from lively beachfront Thai Street Food nights including interactive stations to more relaxed evenings centred around sunset drinks and live music.

Wellness 10/10

The Banyan Tree Spa plays a central role in the guest experience, anchored by the Rainforest Experience. This hydrothermal journey moves guests through a sequence of heat, steam and water therapies designed to relax and reset the body, from sensory showers and steam to a hydrotherapy pool with targeted jets that ease tension.

It naturally leads into a traditional Thai couples massage in a private pavilion, reached via a quiet walk through tropical gardens… perfect for loved up honeymooners!

Service 9/10

Service feels effortless and well considered throughout the stay. From towel arrangements awaiting in the villa to thoughtful in-room touches, there is a consistent sense of care that feels personal without being overdone.

Even departure is handled with the same level of consideration, with a signature Banyan Tree Turquoise drink, a parting aromatherapy gift and a smooth airport transfer where cold towels and water are ready and waiting.

Verdict 10/10

While not exclusively a honeymoon destination, with around 30 percent of guests travelling as families, Banyan Tree Samui maintains a sense of privacy and calm that makes it well suited to couples. The combination of secluded villas, considered experiences and a strong sense of place creates an environment that encourages guests to slow down and reconnect.

It is a destination highly recommended for couples seeking a romantic, memorable escape.

For those looking to elevate the experience even further, the resort will launch its new ‘Banyan Tree Connections’ programme from 1 May 2026. This curated wellbeing journey for two blends movement, mindfulness and shared rituals designed to foster deeper connection and brings a more intentional rhythm to the stay.
