Hawaiian Airlines will become the only US carrier to offer iPad Minis across its entire wide-bodied Boeing 767 fleet, with its Australian customers to benefit from the technology update.

From September 1, the carrier will deploy 1,500 of the devices on its 14 B767 aircraft which serve 14 routes between Hawaii, the mainland US, Asia and South Pacific.

Bluebox Avionics have been contracted for the inflight entertainment update which will offer more than 100 hours of Hollywood releases, TV shows and interactive games.

“Hawaiian Airlines‚Äü signature on-board hospitality is already very popular with travelers, but we wanted to go even further to ensure our customers‚Äü travel experience is more enjoyable,” Blaine Miyasato, Hawaiian Airlines vice president of product development, said.

“With the help of Bluebox Avionics, we‚Äüre building on our acclaimed inflight service by incorporating the latest in popular consumer tech products to enhance our in-flight entertainment options.”

The iPad minis are complimentary in business class on all B767 routes and available for rent in economy class from US$15, subject to availability, on North America, Brisbane, and Pago Pago routes.
