Calling all budding photographers who want an excuse to get overseas ASAP: this Icelandic hotel wants to give one lucky punter a month-long stay in exchange for some happy snaps.

Hotel Ranga, which is located in the South Iceland countryside, has posted a call-out on its social media channels and its blog offering photographers the opportunity to become its first official “northern lights catcher”.

The hotel is looking for someone to spend a month photographing the aurora borealis during its peak season between September and October.

In exchange, it’s offering a month’s stay, including access to its observatory and flights to and from Iceland.

Well, we’re not 100 per cent sure that landing the gig will grant you an exemption from Australia’s travel ban, but we can dream, right?

“We frequently post northern lights photos on our Instagram (@hotelranga) and are looking to fill our inventory of images,” the hotel said in a blog post.

“Hotel Ranga is the perfect place to view the northern lights because of our remote location, which is away from the light pollution of the city lights increasing your chance to see the Aurora.”

The picturesque property offers “northern lights hotel services” that include opting-in to a wake-up call when the lights are spotted, warm snowsuits to borrow and cozy lookouts.

To apply, all you need to do is provide your social media handles, any photography experience and an explanation of why you would make a good lights catcher.
