IHG and La Vie Hotels & Resorts have officially opened the doors of Holiday Inn Townsville in Queensland.

The hotel sits in the heart of Townsville and pairs Holiday Inn’s global standards with easy access to the region’s beaches, reef experiences and expanding food and beverage scene. IHG Hotels & Resorts designed the property to suit various travellers, from those flying in for a long weekend to families on a Queensland road trip or locals booking a staycation.

The property features 93 guest rooms, including two-bedroom family rooms, meeting and event facilities, communal lounge spaces and the on-site Bistro Sol restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner using local produce. In line with Holiday Inn’s global policy, children aged 12 and under stay and eat for free.

“As one of the world’s most iconic hotel brands approaches its 75th anniversary, it is a privilege to continue opening the doors of Holiday Inn in new destinations,” IHG managing director of Australasia & Pacific Matt Tripolone said.

“Townsville is an exciting and increasingly important regional market, and we look forward to welcoming travellers to experience the brand’s warm, dependable hospitality while discovering everything this remarkable part of North Queensland has to offer.”

Guests staying at the hotel can explore Magnetic Island’s beaches and walking trails, dive or snorkel at the Museum of Underwater Art, and take in views from Castle Hill lookout. The city’s dining and drinking scene rounds out the offering, with waterfront restaurants along The Strand, Tan Lines Distillery and Townsville Brewing Co. among the local favourites.

Guests can join the IHG One Rewards loyalty program before booking to unlock member savings and benefits.

Holiday Inn Townsville’s opening comes shortly after the debut of IHG’s voco Queenstown.
