IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Gulf Province Properties Limited to open an InterContinental hotel in Port Moresby, marking the luxury brand’s debut in Papua New Guinea.
Due to open in late 2028, the 179-room InterContinental Port Moresby will anchor a landmark mixed-use development in the capital’s diplomatic precinct, close to Parliament House, the Supreme and National Courts and several foreign embassies. The hotel is expected to cater to visiting dignitaries, business travellers and international guests.
Facilities will include multiple dining venues, more than 600sqm of meeting and event space, a Club Lounge, fitness centre and outdoor pool, alongside office space within the wider development.
The property will join IHG’s existing PNG portfolio – Holiday Inn Port Moresby, Holiday Inn Express Port Moresby and Crowne Plaza Residences Port Moresby – strengthening the group’s position as the country’s largest international hotel operator.
