Centre for Aviation (CAPA) named IndiGo Airlines its 2024 Airline of the Year at its 2024 Global Aviation Awards for Excellence.

The award was presented to IndiGo at a dinner held during the two-day CAPA Airline Leader Summit World in Belgrade, Serbia at the end of last week.

Other category winners include LATAM Airlines, KL International Airport, Breeze Airways and Aegean Airlines.

“On behalf of all my colleagues at IndiGo, it’s a real honour to receive CAPA’s prestigious ‘Airline of the Year’ award. IndiGo’s journey since inception, just 18 years ago, has been nothing short of incredible,” IndiGo Airlines CEO Pieter Elbers said.

“To receive this award today, amidst some of (the) world’s biggest and brightest airlines, is truly encouraging and a source of pride.”

Air Lease Corp, Executive Chairman, Steven Udvar-Házy was inducted into the CAPA Hall of Fame, in recognition of his pioneering work in the development of the aircraft leasing industry, decades of leadership in the sector and ongoing philanthropy for aviation causes. The gala event was attended by leaders from across the global aviation and travel sectors.

Regarded as the pre-eminent award for strategic excellence in aviation, CAPA’s Aviation Awards for Excellence highlight airlines and airports that are successful and have provided industry leadership in adjusting to a new environment. As the industry continues to adapt to challenging circumstances and changing trends, the winners are those businesses that are the biggest strategic standouts.

The CAPA Awards for Excellence are not driven by customer surveys or sponsorship. They are independently researched by an international panel of judges and CAPA analysts.

“The CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence are our moment to recognise and reward the leaders in global aviation and acknowledge true innovators in the air travel sector,’ CAPA – Centre for Aviation senior director of content and marketing, Marco Navarria said.

“The winners are those that have stood out from their peers, driving transformation in the sector and setting the path for others to follow.”
